Baby's Room - Before

Kelly and I can now breathe a collective sigh of relief. For a short time, anyway.

While the rain and trees of the Pacific Northwest still beckon us, the current economy and job market proved to be formidable obstacles this time around. We are excited, however, because we now know where Baby Steffen will be brought when we take her home from the hospital. We will be coming back to our current house since I recently accepted a postdoc position here at the University of Utah.

Until now, we were always a little bit jealous while watching Baby Story, or thinking of our friends' experiences since one of the common highlights of their pregnancies was the excitement of getting the new baby's room put together--painting the walls, setting up furniture, etc. We had no idea where we were going to be when the big day arrived, so we had a difficult time visualizing the whole experience. We also put off buying all our baby goodies since we had zero desire to move a whole new room of furniture still in boxes.

All of this has now changed, and we are getting very exited about the projects ahead! As much as I am reluctant to show the world how slobby we (ok, mostly me) are, I wanted to show the "before" picture of Baby Steffen's room. We have lots of room in our storage unit and we have approval from our landlord to give things a fresh coat of paint, so hopefully there will be some drastic improvements in the coming weeks (excuse the quick-and-dirty photo merging efforts).
