Spelling and Mr. Fox

Two random stories that were too cute to pass up on a blog post. First up - spelling. We've been talking about letters in her name recently. Writing them on the board, speaking out the letters and telling her that they spell Audrey. Today, she was wearing a shirt that said "100% sweet". Sweet was spelled out in lowercase letters. She grabs her shirt this morning and looks at the letters upside-down. Then she tells me, "F - 6 - 6 - M - S, that spells Audrey".

Second cuteness factor has been her increasing attachment to Mr. Fox. Fox is a hand puppet she got for Christmas. Audrey LOVES it when I wear Fox and will have a ball talking with him, sharing a picnic with him, or even just hugging him. To be fair, she is also equally attached to 'Hand' (just a simple hand talking) and 'Duck' (a funny voice - no puppet or thing needed) from Daddy. We're not sure where this came from originally but it is adorable.

Mama, Mommy, Mom

The name has certainly gone through a change over the past two years. Currently, I am most often called mommy but mama comes out occasionally and it always makes me smile. Especially when I sneeze and I hear a little voice call out "Bless you mama". But lately, I have also been getting a lot of "mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom...look at me mom". Can't say it's my favorite but I'll take it. It's got to be better than the stuff I might hear once she becomes a teenager.

In other news, it was gorgeous today and she spent some time playing in the dirt outside. I'm excited for when we get to start a garden this year.

Are you sleeping?

Naps have been a little...let's say, napless, lately. Long gone are the marathon passed-out-for-three-hour nap sessions. She is still happy as a clam to lay in her crib for a good two hours each day and she gets quiet for a couple 20 minute stretches during that time, but mostly when we open the door to check on her, we see this:

A few days ago she started rustling early in the morning and I had the honor of getting her up. I walk in to find the above and instead of immediately getting down, she just started talking to me.

"Hi Daddy! I'm standing on my head!" she said.

"I can see that." I replied. "Did you want to keep standing on your head?"

"Uh huh!"

"Well, can you keep standing on your head while I go downstairs to get my camera?"

"Sure!"

It's good to know the money we are spending on gym class is paying off.
